Maimonides Minyan קהילת רמב"ם
The beautiful S. Joseph Solomont Synagogue on our Saval Campus is home to the Maimonides School Kehillah, which meets regularly on Shabbat, Yamim Tovim, and weekdays as well as for the High Holidays. Our rosh kehilah, Rabbi Yaakov Jaffe, also serves as the Limudei Kodesh Principal of Maimonides Middle & Upper School.
The Kehillah was founded by the Rav zt"l in the first years after the school moved to Philbrick Road in Brookline. It follows the Rav's unique positions and precise stipulations about the laws and practices of Tefilah, and continues to recite Yizkor for many of the founders of Maimonides who helped build the school more than 70 years ago. Many current Maimonides students, parents, grandparents, and alumni daven at Maimonides from all over the Brookline community.
The Maimonides Kehillah also offers a vehicle for the school to host classes, scholars, Shabbatonim, and other special events that serve to further the school's ideological mission beyond the four corners of the classroom and the five days of the school week. The Kehillah co-sponsors, with the Chevra Shas, an ongoing Sunday morning Gemara class at Maimonides, free of charge and open to all members of the community.
