Israel Connection

Israel is always paramount in the consciousness of Maimonides students, from the first week of kindergarten through graduation day. Our connection as a People to the land is interwoven through the entire curriculum, one of the key factors which defines who we are as a school and distinguishes us as an institution.

In the Middle and Upper School, the student Israel Action Committee’s programs and displays enhance Israel awareness and activism. Speakers, letter-writing, fundraising, and participation in major rallies on the East Coast are all on the students’ agendas.

Each year more than 50 percent of the school’s graduating seniors defer their college matriculation so they can spend at least one year learning in Israeli institutions (see below).

Almost 150 Maimonides School alumni have become citizens of Israel. They are physicians, engineers, teachers, businesspersons, political activists, even a professional basketball player. Through their continuing loyalty to and affection for Maimonides, these graduates are an invaluable resource for our students and teachers.
