Maimonides Upper School students are defined by a commitment to excellence. Each morning begins with tefillah b’tzibbur (group prayer), before students embark on the day’s rigorous program of Judaic and General Studies. They also are busy with plans that go beyond classroom walls—perhaps for a chesed project, or a class trip, or a new extracurricular club. Limudei Kodesh (Judaic Studies) The Hebrew language program develops fluency in modern conversational Hebrew and an ability to read classical texts and modern poetry and prose. Writing and speaking Hebrew every school day create a sense of ease with the language’s patterns and structure. The resulting fluency gives students confidence in their ability to study sacred and modern texts independently. General Studies As students’ skills grow through the years, thoughts expand,
fired by enthusiasm and passion. Questions are asked, answers are discovered—and
then are turned inside out by new questions. Maimonides students learn
to go beyond the basic facts about themselves, their studies, and the
world to reveal deeper levels of connection.
