Student Support Services

Because no two students learn in quite the same way, Maimonides Student Support Services offer the tools and resources to help students succeed. While some believe it is enough to survive in an academically challenging environment, Maimonides believes that each student has the ability to thrive. We have a comprehensive support model which allows families with children who need specialized academic assistance to benefit from the Maimonides experience.

Maimonides began its special needs program in the early 1980’s to support a small number of Elementary School students experiencing mild learning difficulties. This program has continued to expand in scope over the past twenty years, and today more than one hundred students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 receive academic support in both Judaic and General Studies. Students who previously would not have been able to attend Maimonides can now graduate with a Modern Orthodox Jewish education.

Support Services teachers understand the variety of student learning styles and the wide range of abilities students need to successfully study a dual curriculum. They help students explore the alternative learning methods to maximize their capabilities. The individualized support and varied academic accommodations offered enable students to achieve full success at Maimonides.

Support Services for Middle and Upper School
Middle School students are served through the Learning Center. Students receive content support in the areas of English, social studies, math, science and Limudei Kodesh and work on strategies necessary for a successful school experience. On-going communication between the Learning Center staff, Grade Deans, faculty and parents is an important component of our program. An on-staff psychologist is available to help all students with personal and social issues.
