Maimonides School

Resources and Support

We are invested in the academic, spiritual, and social growth of our Middle Schoolers, and strive to provide them with the tools they need to be successful at Maimonides. We offer a range of resources, support services, and programming to meet the diverse and changing needs of our students.

Learning Center

The Middle School Learning Center, located in the center of our Middle School wing, provides academic support to students in a warm, growth-oriented environment. Students who have been evaluated receive content support within the context of their curriculum  in English, Social Studies, Math, Science, and/or Judaic Studies. Our learning specialists work with students in small groups, as well as in the classroom whenever possible, to foster a collaborative approach towards student growth. Embedded in this support, students are taught study skills and strategies necessary to enhance their abilities as learners, in order for them to have a successful school experience. Ongoing communication between learning specialists, grade deans, faculty, and parents is an important component of our program.

Social and Emotional Growth

Middle School students undergo significant growth and change during these three years, and we encourage our students to become self-aware learners and advocates. Our full-time Middle School social worker works with students, faculty, and parents around social and emotional issues. In addition, the Middle School social worker works with students on skills pertaining to time management, stress reduction, and navigating social issues relevant to pre-teens and young teenagers.

Additional Resources

Our Middle School team ensures that the school calendar includes a range of educational and recreational programming to engage our energetic Middle Schoolers.
The Director of Student Life plans specific activities for this cohort, in addition to creating unique ways to include Middle Schoolers in schoolwide initiatives. Within the past year our students have lent their unbridled enthusiasm to programs such as our all-school theme-of-the-year production, sevivon challenge, and 8th grade mosaic project.
At grade level, our deans foster a sense of unity and ruach with the students and serve as liaisons with other faculty members to ensure the most positive experience for our Middle Schoolers. Our grade deans are eager to support their students in any way that they can, from assisting with difficult locker combinations to helping students manage their time and homework assignments.

Levy Library

Our Levy Library, with a combined Judaic and secular collection of more than 15,000 volumes, is part of the Massachusetts State Library System and therefore provides access to an even greater number and diversity of resources through Interlibrary Loan services. Students and staff also have access to a number of online resources, allowing users to utilize extensive reference and research materials. Our media center, a dedicated area within the library, features 24 desktop computers and work stations, allowing classes to work together or in small groups n projects and presentations.

Health Office

Our Saval Campus maintains a health office staffed with a nurse who is available to dispense prescribed medications, as well as meet any health needs which might arise during the school day. In addition, our nursing team provides health education and consultation to faculty and students.
